Colorado River RV Park

We were here at this park as we make our way east towards Red Bay, AL. Very easy access to the park off of I-10 (about 10 minutes). This is a unique park that is divided up into 2 sections. Section A is at the top of the hill near the office and facilities while C and D are down by the river. The only river access is the boat ramp, which gets so muddy after the river rises and then falls, you can’t get down to the river. A few pain points for us during our stay…

Wifi: When we checked in, we asked about Wifi, as always. Wifi access here is a HughesNet satellite and when it runs out of data, you don’t have access any longer. And it is only at the clubhouse.

Boat Docks / Marina: None anywhere on site, but advertised on the TT site online.

Review Details

Is the campground scenic and fun to just walk around?

They did a great job of mowing paths all around the property, so walking around can be fun adn scenic as you never know what animals you are going to run into on your walk!

Are the sites shady for your RV?

Not much shade along the river row where we were camped. THe other side, which did not have sewer connections was shaded by the large pecan trees.

Are there enough full hookups?

I really hate when a property talks about 138 sites but when you break them down, they are really:
50Amp: 44 Sites
30Amp: 48 Sites
W/E Only: 36 Sites
Permanent Resident Sites: >20
Total RV Sites: 128, not 138 as advertised.

is 50 AMP service available?

It is, but limited and fills up very fast.

How is the Campground Wifi?

No wifi at the campground. There is Wifi in the clubhouse, but it is a satellite system and when it runs out of monthly data, it turns off.

Is there Verizon 4G LTE service?

Yes, a full 5 Bars of service.

Is there any on-site entertainment?

Not that we saw at all.

How far away are local food establishments?

Columbus, Texas is only 10 – 15 minutes away and has restaurants to eat at, both chain and local.

Do they pick up garbage onsite?

No and the garbage containers were far enough that we had to load the trash into the car and drive it to the dumpster.

Are there ‘walking’ trails onsite?

Trails are an A++ here at this property. If only all properties did trails like these guys did…

is there food on-site?

Nope.

Can you get DirecTV service?

Yes, although it might be spotty on the opposite side of the river.

Any ‘Hiking’ trails on-site or nearby?

No real hiking trails, but walking paths were awesome.

Are there fire-pits at each site or communal?

This is a bring your own firepit property. No wood to be found offsite easily either.

how easy is the campground to find?

Very easy to get to, roads need some work, but overall it was in good health.
