Bay Landing RV Campground – TT/ENCORE

Our longest stay to date, we stayed at Bay Landing for a total of 16 nights. We moved due to our RV vs Challenger accident on 11/26/2016 and we needed to get an estimate on fixing our 4 month old RV 🙁 .

Bay Landing was an interesting campground, the entrance is more than a mile away from the actual campground and that mile drive down the road, can only be traveled at a speed of 2 – 10MPH due to the potholes that are in desperate need of attention.

Here is a video showing about 2/3 of the 1.5 mile road.
The video has been edited to speed up some potions of the drive.

Bay Landing has 224 sites, but only 7 are full hookup with 30 amps. That’s right, 7 and only 18 with full hookups and 50amp, they are sites 100 – 125 on their site map.

One other notable issue was that they have a Border Collie dog breeder that borders the campground to the north and the sound of dogs barking is a constant all day nuisance.

Review Details

Is the campground scenic and fun to just walk around?

Absolutely! Having a site very close to the water is fun to look at and provides a shoreline of sorts to walk around.

Cons: The high number of deer in the area means a high volume of deer poop, it is everywhere in grass and surrounding areas.

Are the sites shady for your RV?

Along the row of full hookup sites, there is little to no shade available, this was not an issue in December, but I can’t imagine the heat issues in the summer.

Are there enough full hookups?

No, without a doubt. For a campground with 224 RV sites, only having 25 sites with full hookups is simply not acceptable in today’s camping world. Time to do some upgrading…

is 50 AMP service available?

Yes, but only at 15 sites and they charge an extra $3 per night to stay in these sites. The extra charge is on top of the more than 4k spent to join the program…. didn’t see that in the fine print… TT Program

How is the Campground Wifi?

Awful… just plain awful. You have to pay for Wifi at your site and the charge for ‘high-speed’ internet is $5 per day or $15 for the week. What they do not tell you is that the speed is going to be about the same as a Dial-up Line.

Ok, I have said it before and screamed it inside the RV to myself…
HIGH SPEED INTERNET IS NOT A LESS THAN 1MB DOWNLOAD SPEED

Is there Verizon 4G LTE service?

Yes and praise the inventors of 4G LTE service… seriously. We had a full 5 bars of service in our location, no issues with our hotspot at all.

Is there any on-site entertainment?

During our 16 nights, they did have a Christmas party and dinner on one night. That was the only thing that happened on the property while we were there.

How far away are local food establishments?

About 10 minutes to Bridgeport where there was fast food, grocery and gas stations.

20 minutes to Decatur where you have Walmart and most of businesses that go with Walmart.

1 Hour to Denton which has anything you could possibly want. Denton is a suburb of Fort Worth.

Do they pick up garbage onsite?

No.

Are there ‘walking’ trails onsite?

Yes and no. Onsite is fairly large primitive camping area and the roads are nearly impassible by anything outside of an off-road Jeep. We walked on these ‘roads’ that could easily be considered a trail.

is there food on-site?

No food onsite at all.

Can you get DirecTV service?

Since there is sparse shade trees, no issues with satellite service.

Any ‘Hiking’ trails on-site or nearby?

Not that we could see or find.

Are there fire-pits at each site or communal?

Sort of. Our site and most others had a rock ring that was used for fires. It was not a dug in the ground fire pit but worked for small campfires.

how easy is the campground to find?

GPS led us right to the front door, no issues but hard to see the driveways in the dark, if coming from the East, the driveway is right after the Dollar General store.
