This one is a no-brainer, but is so pervasive, we wanted to mention it. We thought we have been bombarded with PSAs since the 70’s advising us that littering is bad. That it takes a kabillion years for cigarettes and styrofoam and other roadside trash to disintegrate. Given all of the conditioning, why do we still see people throwing cans, bottles, food, cigarette butts, wrappers, paper bags, etc. out of their vehicles onto the roadways?
We recently saw a fast food paper bag thrown from a vehicle cause the line of vehicles behind it to swerve across multiple lanes to avoid it. Not sure what the other drivers were thinking was in the bag (kittens?), but no one ran over it.
We also avoided it. Just in case, you know.
